TUGLIQ, in partnership with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), launched a green mobility infrastructure project with the primary objective of demonstrating the feasibility of significantly reducing diesel dependency in mining operations.
The EVID-1038 project is part of the broader energy transition effort aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of mining operations, particularly in extreme and remote environments such as the Arctic regions of Canada.
Mining operations, which heavily rely on fossil fuels for machinery and personnel transportation – between 70 and 80 per cent of total emission consumption – face significant technological challenges when it comes to vehicle electrification.
